The Town of Westbrook is seeking applicants for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Land Use Tech position (Union).
Under the general direction of the Zoning Enforcement Officer and First Selectman, the Land Use Tech performs office administrative and regulatory technical work primarily for the Planning, Zoning and Development Coordinator (the “Coordinator”) in receiving, processing and acting upon regulatory applications, and performs technical and administrative work of a confidential and responsible nature. Must be well organized, reliable, and capable of multi-tasking and have the ability to interact well with the public.
Essential duties include: Performs office administrative work for all Land Use Departments. Serves as the initial contact to the public, answers all incoming calls and takes care of customer needs at the Land Use Counter. Receives applications, performs initial review for completeness, prepares the project file (s) and directs applicants to the appropriate department for additional review. Prepares agendas, commission packets, legal notices, letters, reports, and records for Zoning, Planning, Wetlands Commissions, Economic Development Commission (EDC), and Town Center Revitalization Committee (TCRC). Composes routine correspondence.
Minimum Qualifications Required: Four-year college degree preferred; four years administrative land-use or related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. The ability to read maps, plans and various land-use legal documents is highly desirable.
This is a union position and subject to the Town Hall collective bargaining contract.
