Robinson & Cole LLP, an AmLaw 200 firm, is seeking a Land Use Analyst for its Real Estate & Development practice in its Hartford office. 

The Land Use Analyst is expected to have substantive expertise and procedural knowledge to assist attorneys in researching local land use/zoning ordinances nationwide and preparing in-depth analyses. Additionally, they will assist with applications for review of projects under state regulations and local zoning regulations governing real estate development. The analyst would be expected to do site specific research to identify zoning issues, research municipal project files, and prepare analyses of site development and zoning issues. They will propose strategies for securing regulatory approvals and be able to assist the attorneys in presenting a project before a state or local governmental body as well as assisting attorneys with issues that arise in real estate litigation and transactional matters.

This position covers a broad range of tasks related to zoning and land use permitting and requires the analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills necessary to work as part of a team on complex projects. Candidates will interact with clients, public officials, lawyers, surveyors, engineers, architects, and environmental consultants during the land use regulatory process. Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in local or state land use agencies or consulting practices as well as a Master’s Degree or equivalent level of education and experience in urban planning or another related field. Since the position requires occasional travel by car within the state and region, a driver’s license and access to a car are also required.
