Are you ready to take an active role in building a climate-resilient future for New England communities? BETA has an immediate opening for a Hazard Mitigation and Climate Resilience Planner to join our rapidly growing team with a variety of exciting projects in progress.


The Senior Climate Resilience Project Manager will support BETA’s company-wide Climate Resilience team and strategic initiatives. This candidate will have experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in climate change-related service areas including but not limited to vulnerability assessments, climate resilience and adaptation plans, nature-based solutions, natural hazard mitigation plans, and more. Evening events, occasional weekend events, and local travel are needed for this position. Preference will be given to applicants who can start by October 2022.

Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead and collaborate with team of scientists, planners, engineers, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technicians, and other BETA staff to deliver climate resilience projects
  • Manage multiple projects, including managing staff resources, scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Maintain working knowledge of funding opportunities at the region, state, and federal level to help clients advance design and implementation of resilience projects
  • Take a leadership role in advancing BETA’s climate change services portfolio, providing strategic guidance for both existing projects as well as future pursuits
  • Contribute to business development – write proposals, meet with potential clients, and develop teaming partnerships – to grow BETA’s backlog of work in the climate resilience marketplace
  • Mentor and train staff in natural hazard mitigation planning, climate resilience and adaptation, and risk and vulnerability assessments

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of professional experience, or Master’s degree and 8 years’ experience (equivalent related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Project management experience in climate adaptation, risk and vulnerability assessment, natural hazard mitigation, nature-based solutions, green infrastructure, community planning, social equity, and stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing complex project scopes, a diverse project team, and multiple concurrent project budgets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including in-person and virtual presentations
  • Excellent time management and coordination skills
