Position Overview- The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be the visionary leader for the integrated operations of the Economic Development Corporation of New Haven, REX Development, and Visit New Haven. The CEO will be responsible for driving regional economic growth, business development, and tourism promotion. Enhance collaboration aligning the missions of the three organizations to foster a thriving and inclusive community. Key Responsibilities-
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a unified strategic plan that aligns with the missions of the three organizations to promote economic growth, tourism, and regional development.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline operations and maximize the collective impact of the combined organizations.
- Economic Development:
- Lead initiatives to attract, retain, and expand businesses in the Greater New Haven region.
- Collaborate with public and private sector partners to identify opportunities for workforce development, infrastructure investment, and innovation.
- Advocate for policies that support business growth and regional competitiveness.
- Tourism Promotion:
- Oversee efforts to market New Haven and the region as a premier destination for visitors, events, and meetings.
- Partner with local hospitality, cultural, and arts organizations to enhance the region’s appeal and visitor experience.
- Develop strategies to increase tourism revenue and enhance the region’s brand identity.
- Regional Collaboration:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local governments, businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations to advance shared goals.
- Act as a spokesperson for the region, representing its interests at the state and national levels.
- Project Management:
- Seek out funding opportunities, including grants and assigned work.
- Carry out special projects consistent with mission and pursuant to terms and conditions of grant agreements.
- Operational Management:
- Ensure effective financial management, including budget development, fundraising, and resource allocation across the three organizations.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team that reflects the values of collaboration, innovation, and equity.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, making data-driven decisions to improve outcomes.
- Community Engagement:
- Foster inclusive economic growth by addressing barriers to participation for underserved communities.
- Promote initiatives that enhance the region's quality of life, sustainability, and equity.
Qualifications-
- Proven track record of executive leadership, preferably in economic development, tourism, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of economic development, urban planning, and tourism promotion strategies.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build consensus.
- Experience in financial management, including budgeting, fundraising, and resource allocation.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovate, and deliver measurable results.
- Familiarity with the Greater New Haven region and its economic and cultural landscape is highly desirable.
