Introduction
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), Bureau of Public Transportation, in Newington, CT is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transit Fleet Planner (Transportation Planner 2) to join the Office of Transit and Ridesharing’s Fleet and Customer Amenities Unit.
This Office directly operates a statewide multimodal transit network including 8 divisions of the CTtransit state-owned bus system and CTfastrak – an ITDP Silver Standard BRT system.

THE ROLE
In this dynamic role, you will play a pivotal part in the planning, project management, and coordination of several ongoing projects within the fleet program, working to support Connecticut’s multimodal transit network, which provides over 42 million passenger trips per year.
The Transportation Planner 2 (Transit Fleet Planner) position will be responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders across multiple transit districts that operate medium to heavy-duty transit fleets, assisting them in a variety of capacities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale projects while ensuring that critical systems and processes are maintained at the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with different transit districts that operate medium to heavy-duty transit fleets, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration across regions
Project Management: Lead and manage the inspection program for more than 600 buses, ensuring compliance with safety standards and fleet requirements
Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to support planning efforts and decision-making related to fleet operations, maintenance, and performance
Program Support: Support various programs within the Office of Transit and Ridesharing by providing data-driven insights, recommendations, and assistance in managing fleet-related initiatives
Fleet Management: Assist with strategic planning and implementation of fleet-related projects, including vehicle procurement, maintenance scheduling, and lifecycle management

- P-4 (Engineering, Scientific and Technical) bargaining unit
- This position is eligible to apply for telework after successful completion of the working test period, and thereafter, in accordance with the Telework Policy. The Policy can be found here. Employees in their initial working test period must work on site in the office
