Principal Planner
City of Providence
Providence, RI United States
Under general supervision of the Deputy Director or Designee, the Principal Planner performs responsible administrative, technical planning, and urban redevelopment work of a complex and professional nature in assisting the Deputy Director for Planning in the conduct of the department work program in all its phases; and related work as required. Work assignments are received from a superior and are usually general in nature and afford a certain amount of latitude in the exercise of independent judgment in planning work details and assigning work to subordinates. Work elements include writing, public speaking, and the use of various types of computer software and programs including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation, mapping, and desktop publishing. Work is reviewed in its broader aspects for compliance with the standards and principles of community planning.
